Have you heard yourself or other adult horse lovers say things like:
"I'd like a better relationship with my horse."
"I need to learn a more independent seat."
"I wish I had someone to just keep an eye on me once in awhile."
"I'd like to learn some dressage."
"I have a green horse that I don't want to send away for training, but would like help while I train him."
"I want to be able to do more with my horse."
"Groundwork?!?! I'd rather just ride, what's the point in groundwork?"
"Someday I'd like to have my own horse, but for now I'd just like to learn more."
If you've ever said or thought any of these things, you're perfect for the Mustang Hollow Adult Education
courses.
Fridays 1pm - 5pm.
School Horses Available.
Auditors welcome. See our rates.
EXTENDED: July 11 - 25, August 8-22, 2008 - EQUITATION (for both the English and Western Rider)
Learn about human and equine biomechanics and how to use your body effectively and efficiently for
communication with the horse. A rider must be in touch with how their body movements influence the
horses body movements in order to get the desired performance from their horse. Recommended
reading for this course is Wendy Murdoch's book "Simplify Your Riding"
August 29 - September 19, 2008 - RIDING WITH A SOFT HAND - Develop a soft feel with your horse.
We'll use dressage principles as we develop a nice contact of feel and release between rider and horse.
A useful tool for the Western rider developing a bridle horse, as well. Learn about an independent seat
and effective communication between rider and horse.
Stay tuned for more sessions in late October and November.
Past Sessions:
June 6 - 27, 2008 - IN-HAND AND GROUNDWORK (round pen, lunging,
ground driving, leading-up freely) Learn the direct relationship
between groundwork and riding. The relationship and communication
between horse and rider start on the ground. Every moment we are
around our horse we are training them. Learn techniques that will go a
long way to help your horse to be light and responsive to all of your
aids. Don't let your groundwork be such that your horse is learning to
be dull, disrespectful and heavy. We'll show you a better way for
everything from leading to ground driving. Many of the exercises
learned are fabulous tools for strengthening and conditioning the
green horse to the more experienced horse, both mentally and
physically.
